My every Sunday yearning

I want a little congregation, 50 members are too
much. I want a small number, small enough that
we know ourselves very well and the absence or
mood of one is noticed by the others. I don't
wanna be lonesome in a crowd. I don't wanna
suffocate.
It should be nearby. Why pass a faithful
congregation to another, it is same God if it is.
Why pay transport to a Church? Each community
should have it's congregation: The Church in
Antioch, The congregation at Adaha Enai, the
Assembly at Woji...
It should be humbling. It should treat everyone
equally: President, Governor, Entrepreneur,
cleaner, gateman given same treatment inside. It
should be able to cut wings of evil from
everyone: rich or poor.
It should be a simple building... Like a typical JW
structure: a neat Hall with seats and one pulpit so
to call and small enough to contain the few
members with no "high table".
No Pope no Bishop, no Papa no Mama... But just
like this: the greatest among you shall be the
servant. Now who is the greatest, the one who
sits and eats or the one who serves? Yes! No
member is a full-time pastor.
The most important of it all is the nature of
fellowship.
- Quiet prayers like we are talking to Our Father
that has functioning ears. "Shut our door" and
talk to Our Father in secret, and HE will answer
us in secret.
- Discussion of the scriptures and topics. Not a
monopoly of the microphone. We discuss the
scriptures, share challenges and solutions.
- We sing hymns and praises, worship in a way
that sends the message to God and not like to
the street. I want that humbling sacred songs like
in a typical Catholic Church.
This simple way so the building will be easy and
less costly to maintain. So the offering can be
used for charity beginning from within and not
spent on fuel and instruments, cameras and
reports.
It feels more like a family. A brotherhood, a
family.
I have always wanted this kind of fellowship. I
just want a Heaven like a family.
Dear faith, I know I am weird, but can you design
such settings for people like me?

THE SCHOOl OF STREET by Iyawa justice

THE SCHOOL OF STREET
If people can refer me as “gym-powers” instead of Jimpowers, I wouldn’t blame them if they refer the word “street” to strict. I have no choice than to combine both words in question in this article “Is the Street Strict?” At the mention of the word street, many have had a nice view or description of a paved part of a road usually in a village or a town or a new constructed road within thier residence.
The concept of the word “street” is far beyond earth road passages but a journey that does not require pampering, bread with a silver spoon and poor attitudes but the street that requires hard times to succeed. Michael Chidubem Kerry would say “leave your house, leave the street and enter the street”. I pondered over those words severally over a decade now. Immediately, I picked up my tools and left for the street. When I entered the street, I became grateful to nature. The street does not check the following as an entry requirement in to the school of street;
• Language proficiency
• Credentials
• Potentials
• Physical capabilities
• Family background

All that the school of street requires for your admission are;
• Deliveries and not degrees
• Potentials and not credentials
• Mental abilities and not Gym-Powers
• Passion, Hunger and Desire (PHD)

The aim is to leave your parents financially and hustle for yourself. I weep this day when I see young men of middle age doing nothing and waiting patiently to inherit poverty of their parents. I also weep for young guys still driving their dad’s car, requesting for fuel allowance, recharge cards and internet subscription, Christmas clothes at the age of 18. For ladies making themselves as cheap as indomie, not understanding the principles of life. I pity you. I will share a short story to buttress my point.
A boy was travelling with his father, they journeyed to an extent, the father picked up a rock and said “son, what do you know about geology?” the son quickly replied “dad, I know nothing about geology” then the dad said, if you know nothing about geography, you have succeeded in losing 25% of your life. The journey continued, the second time, the dad picked up a green leaf (herb) and said “son, what do you know about trado-medicine?” the son replied, “dad, I know nothing about trado-medicine”. Again, the father said, if you know nothing about trado-medicine, you have succeeded in losing another 25% of your life. How many percent left? 50%. The journey continued, here it was about to rain, the father looked up the sky and said “son, what do u know about astrology?” the son quickly replied “dad, I know nothing about astrology” then the dad said, if you know nothing about astrology, you have succeeded in losing another 25% of your life. The journey continued. They met a river and if the journey must continue, they have to go on boat. They entered the boat and started sailing, suddenly, there was a heavy storm that got of them frightened and the boat was about to capsize, here, the son asked the dad “dad, what do you know about swimmology?” Just as you smiled, the dad smile as well and said “son, I know nothing about swimmology”. The son replied, if you know nothing about swimmology or you don’t know how to swim, you have succeeded in losing the whole of your life. The son or dad, who is more intelligent? I leave that for you to answer. The fact remains that your potentials and skill will save you in times of difficulty or hardship. That is what the street is all about. Certificate will drop you in an office but your talent and skills will take you round the globe.
The street is like a football and everyone has his own wing to play. The truth is that you will remain where you are if you refuse to play your own wing. The street is not all about struggling to succeed, is all about getting the right information that will make you a success. The success in the street is not luck, if you still believe in the philosophy of luck, you might wait and die a miserable failure. But mind you, the street is not God made. Is either you are in the right place doing the wrong thing or you are in the wrong place doing the right thing.
The reason why many have failed in the street is because they’ve not discovered their purpose on planet earth. That is why you see young men regrettably graduates suffering from a disease I call “Mandicapp” blaming the government of the day. God can do all things but He cannot do everything for you. Don’t blame God and government for your misfortunes and poverty. Imagine a poor man with nine (9) children begging the government for free education. Government is everybody, government is somebody, government is anybody and government is “NOBODY”. The most important thing that is needed for us is to the ones we ought to do for ourselves. Government won’t think, eat, sleep and bathe for you. Government can construct road for you but will never describe your location. You have to know where you are heading to, that is the street.
The fact remains that when your structure is fractured, you can’t function even with motivation because you lack direction. When I say do it yourself, I mean it. If God has given us brain in order for us to give Him rest, why should we be organising “all night” for things God has given us power to do for ourselves. We can’t be lazy and lousy and expect grace to cover our disgrace. Those in the street can bear me witness that poverty is too expensive for the rich to afford.
I would like to define the word “street”. Street can be defined as a place where an individual work out of financial dependency of any kind or sort within the law and aimed at becoming financially independent to anyone.
Street here, is putting off gratification is short term in order to enjoy greater satisfaction in long term. Street is the ability to project in to the future in order to make necessary adjustment in the presence. The street is doing what is required against what is desired.
A friend of mine I met once in Lagos said I quote “my handwork na G, as people dey learn tailoring, na so me take learn my own for one year. That is the street,” he concluded. I was astonished at his view to street. The ethics of the street is not to scam people, bear false witness against another, smoke, drink, and flirt or any other social delinquencies. Some school of streets would say if all these mention above are exclusive, there is no street. My school of street is law abiding street. There is no street you can run outside the law. The street requires mental ability and capacity to create, innovate and appreciate the potentials of God in you.
The street is not prostitution, lesbianism or its kind, stealing, aiding and abetting criminals, cultism, cybercrime and gambling to mention but a few. Don’t be bold to say am in the street when you indulge in the above.
The intervention and innovation by the government in the school of street are the empowerment and entrepreneurial programmes and lots more. I concur to that innovation by the government.
We are experiencing scarcity because of our laxity; we lack breakfast because we refuse to break from our laziness. We lack lunch because we refuse to lunch our potentials. We lack dinner because we refuse to dine with great minds. The only remedy out of hard life is hard work. The only benefit in doing nothing is absolutely nothing. We need to be in the street and hustle.
Nigeria got her independence 55years ago but 55% of Nigerians are not free. You are not in this world to occupy space, you are not a biological accident that happened because a man and a woman slept together. You have to set goals for yourself, goal setters are gold getters. Go to the street.
Considering the unemployment rate, high rate of poverty, financial struggle, poor salary, gratuity and pension structure, late retirement and other unpalatable situations in our country. Our current educational system focuses on preparing youths on getting good jobs by developing scholastic skills. These professional skills allow them to enter the work force to work for money and fails to teach us how money can work for us which is the latter street. The problem is that our financial genius lies asleep because our culture has educated us into believing that the love of money is the route of all evil. Quote me “money is never the route of all evil”. Money itself is not evil. It is the devilish way one seeks for money is considered evil.
Our labour force can only accommodate 10% of our graduates yearly. 3% of them receive late salary, 4% stands at risk of being retrenched within the first six months of employment and only 3% who work for government can boast of job security but with chips as salary. Has this not shown you the relevance of been in the street awaiting the government?
For how long shall we continue to work hard in school, come out with good grades and work for government or cooperation? For how long shall we continue to write Curriculum Vitae in search of a job? For how long shall we sit, stand and fight to argue over salary structure, reduction or increment of salaries? For how long shall we continue to learn how to write application letter, write it again and again and at times give it to someone whose handwriting is better than ours to recopy it for us so that we can considered employed? For how long shall we keep lying about our age so that we won’t get retired early by the government? Friends, don’t you think is high time we started learning how to write business plan for ourselves in the street?
You don’t need the insight of a philosopher, you don’t the genius of Wole Soyinka or the humour of Akpororo and you don’t need to travel abroad before you achieve everything you’ve planned for yourself on earth. Let me tell you, everything about the whites is not right, the fact that we are blacks those not mean we will lack. The white you see today are not better than us, they are where they are today not because of their currency but because of their current sense. The street requires current and correct information to further your course. One of disadvantages in the street is to consume from the economy and not to contribute to the economy. I shall discuss more on the street next month.

Cheat and your understanding of it

A WOMAN CALLS IT CHEATING......A MAN
LAUGHS OUT LOUD.
To a woman , everything not liked is easily
renamed cheating so let's not start with them.
What is cheating to a man? (as it relates to a
relationship)
Well, the answer depends on who the cheat is
and who the cheated is.
Generally, a man will see as cheating, anything a
woman does that involves (but not limited to)
getting intimate with another man. Forget story, if
you are caught, it is done and dusted. On the
other hand, men almost don't cheat. Why?
Simple. Men believe that they cheat only when
they begin to share the love with another. Even
that has been stylishly justified with polygamy
rights.
That's when you suddenly hear of "family
traditions" previously unheard of.
"the 1st son in my family must always have a
child outside"
Seriously speaking, men really do believe this
hence the high number of "it was just a one time
thingy" "she was digging me and I must have had
a little too much to drink bla bla bla" etc
At least 40% of the people I know are men. Of
this 40%, maybe 0.01% of them are men who
have never cheated in a relationship. (not to
worry guys, you can claim you are part of the
0.01% if your madam asks).
Now, the women reading this are nodding in
approval like the guys cheated with monkeys.
Abeggi, we are in this together. I know the
percentage of females who haven't cheated in a
relationship is much higher compared to the
0.01% of the men but it is still small compared to
those who have.
The default setting of a man no try at all. We
stare, approach, talk down, touch down, run down
then run off (repeat all) but outside this default
setting, why do people cheat?
Hmmmm it's a very serious issue, one that has,
more than any other, destroyed things.
Unsatisfactory conduct and performance in a
relationship is the biggest "genuine" reason (if
ever there was one). A good kid will remain a
good kid but to be honest, it is easier for a
female to be faithful when the man is totally
committed. This is not to say that there haven't
been cases of people who had committed
partners and still did but as a general rule, it is
easier to stay true when expectations are being
pursued.
The second biggest reason is money. That on its
own can be a whole post.
Next on the line is Sex (or the lack of it) but the
most puzzling reasons are the ones that cannot
be explained. Where it is not about money, not
about sex but an inexplicable longing for the
company of the other.
We are all going to condemn it and call it all
sorts but wait a minute, if everybody is innocent
then nobody is guilty......yeah right.
We all are or know people who have in the past
or even still in the present, cheat but who are we
to talk? we aren't exactly clean too (one stubborn
person is still "stronging head" on innocence)
First things first people, men and women need to
redefine within their environment, what the
standard definition of cheating would be. This is
the only time the pursue of this standard can be
effected. Then maybe a metal lockable pant for
the guys can help too. While saying this, it would
also not be bad for you to rise your game
(whatever level it takes woman)
Cases differ from one place to another but I
always maintain that the ability to have a friend
as a partner goes a long way because genuine
conversations that prevent/resolve some of these
issues can then flow.
Finally, back to you, Mr Innocent. Okay, we didn't
ignore you, we just felt you could be exempted
from this discussion.

Pilgrimage a waste of our nations resources

Crucify me I do not care, but if I was a Nigerian
Governor, I will stop government's sponsorship of
pilgrimage. I cannot really understand exactly
why poor African governments will be transferring
money to rich Saudi Arabia and rich Israel yearly
in the name of pilgrimage.
I can only do that if the Saudi or Israeli
government signs a pact with my government
such that for every pilgrim sponsored by my
government, an equivalent worth of development
is transferred to my land. I mean if I send
pilgrims to Israel, Israel for example can send
agricultural technology to my state. Simple!
You do not expect me to pay hundreds of millions
to Saudi Arabia or Israel just so my people could
go and bring stones, salts, muds from the red
Sea, unleavened bread, mustard seeds... Come
on!
If my people really want stones to touch, muds to
rub and sights to see, I will rather convert the
annual budget for pilgrimage into creating a
replica of the Israeli stones, muds and seas in my
state - a mini Israel in my state and call CAN to
dedicate it for use. God is in my state too!
Pilgrims are pilgrims, whether Jerusalem Pilgrim
(JP) or Etinan Pilgrim (EP).
Capital flights must be reduced as much as
possible!
Victor jerry Emah expressing his own imperfect opinion.
Beneath are the few comments from the future leaders of our grate Nation Nigeria.

Barrister Toyo:

share your sentiments, my friend. It has always
been my view that government should withdraw
from sponsorship of pilgrimage on the following
bases:
Firstly, religion should be a personal thing and
not state-sponsored. Thus, it should be an
individual who should bear the cost of
propagating, promoting, etc., his beliefs.
Government should not get involved.
Secondly, closely related to the first point is the
second which is that state and religion should be
separated. The fusion of state and religion is
giving rise to some of the problems we witness in
this nation. United Kingdom that colonised us
decades ago saw the need to separate state from
religion some time ago and it is working well for
them. United States also from time immemorial
has been doing same.
Thirdly, it is my humble view that it is
discriminatory when the government of the day
gives support to Christians and/or Muslims, but
leave behind practitioners of African Traditional
Religion (ATR). Shouldn't we consider African
traditionalists in the scheme of things after all
the Constitution encourages our government to
be secular?
Fourthly, it is yet to be established, officially or
unofficially, the extent to which pilgrimage has
advanced a pilgrim's faith. It must be noted that
some pilgrims do not appreciate the spiritual
significance of pilgrimage. I once recently talked
to a friend and he confessed to me that when he
went on pilgrimage, he was only out there to
have fun. So, to what spiritual value is pilgrimage
to such person?
Fifthly, the huge sum of money expended on
pilgrimage annually would have been used to
develop our nation (that's if corruption would
have allowed), build and promote our rich
traditional heritage and culture (and that would
have made Nigeria a tourist attraction where
others would be visiting).
I know this may seem an unpopular view in that
religion is a very sensitive issue. But it is my
strong view that government should withdraw its
sponsorship of pilgrimage. Let individuals be the
ones who use their money to satisfy that their
spiritual need (if pilgrimage even qualifies as a
spiritual need).
Nigerians generally seem to be very religious, but
it is only very few Nigerians that truly practises
the tenets of their religions.

Ogaga Solomon:
My brother, this is one of the modern ways
Africans underdeveloped Africa. God is watching
them. Like you i did my own pilgrimage in Aokpe
some where in Benue State. AP is my title and I'm
happy.

What is your own take on this topic? God bless you as you ponder and come up with a viable and logical way to salvage our country Nigeria from a wastage of this magnitude. Thank you for I remain

Introducing The 4-H Pledge to Nigerian youth

Introducing The 4-H Pledge to Nigerian youth

Nigerian youth strongly desire a new pledge to live useful life to the Nigerian nation. Every youth should shun indulgence in cultism and  hard drugs. Nowadays Nigerian youth have detailed from the main track of cosmic evolution. Our youth have gone astray. Education was supposed to refine the intellect. But today our youth have converted these noble seat of intellectual endeavour into arenas of hard living social whirl. Cultism has become the order of the day among Nigerian youths. Reversal in the train is strongly desired. It is my strong belief that the present government will do everything under its power to effect a reversal to this dangerous train. Buhari owes this nation the divine responsibility to ensure this land is safe for all. Our youths should rather resolve to; Pledge their HEADS to clearer thinking; Their HEARTS to greater loyalty; Their HANDS to larger service and their HEALTH to better living for their community, the country and the world. “May heavens rich blessing come down on he who will help heal this open love of our Nation" Amen ..
